Day 4 - Brawley, CA to Blythe, CA
The desert is one of those places that can make a bicyclist feel very small. The vast emptiness of this region combines with the natural forces of wind and heat to create a sense of vulnerability. After battling those elements for 85 miles today I was overjoyed to arrive at the little oasis of Blythe located on the Colorado River.
This makes me think about the classic western movie scene where the dusty cowboy rides in to town and heads straight to the watering hole… or jumps in the river…..or horse trough. I’ll bet you can identify with that after your desert ride today.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful … and such an inspiring trip. Stay safe. 😃👍🏼
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rides, Mike! Good for you!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to following your journey. 85 desert miles is a serious day in the saddle. I can see why you're carrying 3 water bottles. All the best and stay safe.
